Marilyn Owens

Marilyn Underwood Owens, 85, of Mesquite passed away Monday, June 29, 2015, at Heritage Place Nursing Home in Mesquite. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 3, 2015, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday prior to service time at the funeral home.

Marilyn was born February 9, 1930 in Waco to Roy B. and Ethyln Orlena (Saylors) Underwood. A very active member of Faith Temple in Tyler, she loved her church very much. Marilyn also loved her family unconditionally. She always went out of her way to make someone else’s day bright. A very generous and giving person, Marilyn was always thankful for what she had and not for what she didn’t have. She was very strong and never complained about anything.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two husbands, J. W. Hilliard and James F. Owens; and a sister, Janelle Bodiford.

Survivors include her three children, Nancy Lewis and husband, Robbie, of Mesquite, Martha Valdivia and husband, Richard, of Mesquite, and Charles Owens and wife, Jody, of Terrell; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one step-grandson.
