Marjene Brooks

On April 26, 2018, Marjene Lucille Brooks passed away in Whitney after a long debilitating illness. There are no services scheduled at this time.

Marjene was born in Springfield, Ohio. She later moved to Maryland with her daughter and second husband, where she went to work for the Department of Defense at Ft. George G. Meade, MD. Following her retirement in 1995, after a 35-year career, she moved to Central Texas. Eventually her failing health forced her into a nursing care facility in Whitney.

Marjene was preceded in death by her parents, Oda and Herb Chaney; sisters, Viola and Doris; brother, Harold; and former husbands, Wayne B. Gerhardt and Robert W. Brooks.

She is survived by her youngest sister Florence; daughter, Dena Gerhardt Martin; three grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Marjene’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Whitney for their unwavering and excellent care of Marjene since 2003. We would also like to thank Mission Hospice for their excellent care since 2015.
