Marshall Auten passed away in Whitney, TX on Feb. 13, 2006. Born to Otis and Ethel Auten in Prairie Valley, Community, TX., Marshall began his formal education at Prairie Valley School. Marshall would continue his education at Hill Junior College in Hillsboro and Tarleton College in Stephenville. His academic accomplishments culminated with the awarding of a Bachelor of Arts degree from Daniel Baker College in Brownwood, and a Masters of Arts Degree in History form Hardin Simmons College in Abilene. Marshall marrried Lillie Otwell in 1937 and devoted his life to his family and a career in education. He served as a teacher in both primary and secondary schools, and help positions of both Principal and Superintendent later in his career. Throughout his adult life, Marshall was a role model for his family and an icon of family values and strong moral fiber. He was a member of Prairie Valley Church. Preceding him in death were his son, Norman D. Auten; sister, Ruby Boswell; brother, Doyle Auten; granddaughter, Dawn Cook; son-in-law, Charles F. Ogletree. Survivors include his wife, Lillie; daughter, Rita Ogletree; son, Curtis L. Auten; brother, Chesley Auten and wife, Wanda; sister, Opal Jones; grandchildren, Terry Lewis, Barry Cliborn, Curtis D. Auten, Shannon Auten, Norman S. Auten, Shelley Schittker, Christian Auten, Kelly Cotton; great grandchildren, Leandra Scott, Steven Cliborn, Robert Cliborn, Kimberlea Lewis, Jacob Cliborn, Logan Cook, Joshua Auten, Rachel Schnittker, Natalie Schnittker, Vaughn Auten, Erin Schnittker and Isabel Auten.
