Martha Allen

Martha Lou Allen, 76, of Whitney, passed away on April 17, 2018, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2018, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Rev. Curtis McGehee of Abiding Life Church officiating. Burial will follow at Rio Vista Cemetery in Rio Vista. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Martha was born on February 25, 1942, in San Antonio to John and Gladys (Choate) DuBose. During her early life the family moved several times, but she lived most of her life in Texas. She married Roy Riddle and he preceded her in death, and later she married Pastor June Allen who also preceded her in death. For many years she worked at Walls Manufacturing in the cutting room.

She enjoyed Christian music, reading her Bible and daily devotionals as well as working crossword puzzles. Martha was a member of Abiding Life Church in Whitney.

Preceding her in death were a son, Billy Joe Riddle; a sister, Myrtle Annie Riddle; and brothers, John Francis DuBose, Jeff Essary.

Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Small and husband, Pat, of Whitney; grandchildren, Carissa Small and Jessica (Riddle) Burrows and husband, Adam; granddaughter, Jocelynn Burrows; a brother, Ronnie Joe Essary of Arkansas; and sisters, Rose Riddle of Grandview and Barbara Armstrong of Cleburne.
