Martha Loye (Gill) Basye

Martha Basye, 83, of Itasca passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023, at a Fort Worth hospital. Graveside services will take place at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Itasca Cemetery in Itasca, Texas.

She was born August 11, 1940, in Grapeland, Texas, to Roy and Ailene Gill. Martha attended schools in Parker, Rio Vista and Grapeland.

On November 29, 1958, she married Jimmy Basye in the Parker community. They made their home in Itasca and raised four children together.

Martha attended Hill Junior College for cosmetology. She also earned a degree in vocational teaching at Texas A&M. She taught cosmetology at Hill Junior College and later retired from Lockheed Martin. Martha also held real estate and insurance licenses. Together with her husband, Jimmy, she owned several businesses. Martha was of the Baptist faith and is spending Christmas with Jesus.

She enjoyed traveling, music, slots and gardening. Her greatest joy was being a Granny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Gill, Ailene Grant; stepfather, Clint Grant; father and mother in laws, Henry and Ruby Basye; brother, Marvin Gull; sister, Sarah Edwards; sister-in-law, Betty Basye; brother-in-law, David Basye; and son-in-law, Jimmy Baker. She is survived by her husband of sixty-five years, Jimmy Basye of Itasca; son, Jimmy Keith Basye and wife Brenda of Itasca; daughters, Karen Baker of Itasca, Kim Kennedy and husband James of Covington, and Kelli Marak and husband Randy of Spring; sister, Iva Lou Crawford and husband Donald of Elkhart; brother, Butch Grant and wife Val of Elkhart; brother-in-law Billy Basye and wife Lilly of Covington; sister-in-law Jane Cathey and husband Tom of Covington; grandchildren, Melani Clendening (Carl) of Itasca, Robert Kennedy (Caty) of Granbury, Misty Peel (Marshall) of Covington, Jessica David (Kelly) of Cleburne, Billy Basye of Itasca, April Mullins (Keith) of Itasca, John Zett, IV (Dana) of Leander, Danny Kennedy (Chrissy) of Granbury, Terry Zett (Liz) of Waco, Timothy Baker (Amy) of Lubbock, Eric Zett (Kristy) of Spring; great-grandchildren, Kyndel, Natalie, JK, Orion, Anna, Zach, Jayson, Raeleigh, Trinity, Matthew, Marcus, Zion, Aliza, Jayme, Toby, Derek, Deacon, Juliet, Caroline, Cadence, Keira, Kolton, Amaya, and Aislinn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
