Martha Beckham

Martha L. Powell Beckham, 58, of New Braunfels passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012. Graveside services will be held at Noon on Monday, June 25, 2012, at Richland Cemetery in Mertens. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Monday, June 25, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Martha was born September 16, 1953 to Morris and Edna Powell. She was raised in the Waxahachie area and graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1972. On February 16, 1985 she married Melvin R. Beckham. In 1998, they moved to the New Braunfels area where they lived these past few years.

Martha loved her family and she loved to fish. She took her fishing seriously! She competed in many fishing tournaments, often winning trophies. She was a member of C.A.S.T.

Martha was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her beautiful smile and laughter brought joy to all around her.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a nephew, Chris Beckham.

Survivors include her loving husband of 27 years, Melvin R. Beckham of New Braunfels; son, Jeff Woodward of New Braunfels; four grandchildren, Jeremy, Hayley, Kylie, and Jacob; sister, Mary Rancher and husband, Art, of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Evelyn Pugh and husband, Curtis, of McKenzie, TN; brothers-in-law, Bruce Beckham and wife, Anna, and Robert Beckham and Janelle Odom all of Milford; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
