Martha Lucille Clark, 94, of Hillsboro died Sunday, February 24, 2008, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Martha was born November 18, 1913 in Avinger, Texas, where she grew up, the daughter of Harmon A. and Lucy Estelle Peek Connor. She graduated from high school in Atlanta, TX. Following graduation, she worked for a time in Tyler as a waitress before moving to Dallas where she lived at the YWCA and worked for A. Harris Department Store. Later she moved to Cleburne and worked for the A. J. Wright clothing shop. She met Paul Clark who was working in an adjoining grocery store and the couple were married on June 25, 1939 in Marshall and settled in Cleburne. Following the birth of their first child, they moved to Fort Worth. In 1950, they moved to Hillsboro where Paul was in the grocery business until his retirement. Martha enjoyed sewing for her family and quilting. She loved playing 42, 84, and Skipbo as well as other games. She was a member of College Hill Church of Christ and past member of Les Causeuses. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband in 1985; and sister, Catherine Taylor. Survivors include her children Paul Clark and wife, Tana, of League City and Martha Pierpont and husband, Jerry, of Hillsboro; brother Harold Connor of Chandler; sister, Ruth Duncan of Arlington; four grandchildren, Garrett and Andrew Clark both of League City, Angela Jackson and husband, Corey, of Dallas, and Brad Pierpont and wife, Alicia, of Cleburne; great-grandson, Landon Pierpont; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the College Hill Church of Christ, P. O. Box 375, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
