Martha Raymer Hill passed away peacefully Friday, September 14, 2018, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, fourteen days after her 100th birthday. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at Ridge Park Cemetery in her hometown of Hillsboro, TX where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Lloyd H. Raymer, and her daughter, Kathy Lou Wilson.
Martha was blessed to be able to celebrate her glorious life September 1st at her 100th Birthday Celebration. Family and friends gathered in Lake Charles to celebrate and honor her. Martha’s wish was to make it to her 100th birthday and have a big party while she was still alive instead of a sad funeral after she was gone. She got her wish!
Martha was born September 1, 1918 in Hillsboro, the daughter of E.O. and Rosalie (Dandridge) Davis. She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School, Hill County College and a member of First United Methodist Church.
She married Lloyd Raymer in 1942. In 1963, she and Lloyd moved to Houston with their three children. After the death of her husband in 1991, she reunited with her high school sweetheart, Aaron Hill. They married in 1993 and had thirteen years together until his death. Martha moved to Lake Charles, LA, in 2011 to be close to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed a full life at the Gardens Assisted living facility where she was the favorite of all the residents and staff.
During her working years, she worked at Dugan Drugs in Hillsboro and later worked as a cosmetologist for 30 years at Eckerd Drugs in Houston, where she loved to make people look and feel their very best.
Martha was known to most everyone as Granny and spread joy to everyone she met. She will be remembered to all who knew her for her kindness and ability to make everyone feel special.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Charles Edward (Jeep), Joe, Oscar, Jack, Hal, Jimmy, and Don Davis; and her sister, Mary Lou Thomas.
She leaves behind her daughter, Jacque Forson; son-in-law, Jim Forson; son, Jimmy Raymer; grandchildren, Paige and Kevin Caldwell, Chris (Danni) Forson, Shelby (Dane) O’Blanc, Ryan, Zack and Jordon Raymer, Travis Devitt and Leo Wilson; great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Mason and Priscilla Caldwell, James Forson, Liesel O’ Blanc and Titan and Tobias Wilson.
The family would like to thank The Gardens/Guardian House Care Facility and Heart of Hospice for their more than loving care.
As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to cover final medical expenses may be sent to Kevin Caldwell, 6854 Calder St. Lake Charles, LA 70605.
