Martha Ann Walker 77, of Whitney passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at a local nursing home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Bethany Rest Cemetery in Alvarado. Officiating will be Dr. Carl Jennings of First Baptist Church in Whitney.
Martha was born on July 13, 1939 in Ft. Worth to Forrest Hamilton and Olive Niree (Ranson) Bradford. She grew up in the Cleburne, Joshua area graduating from Cleburne High School in 1957. In 1958 Martha married Jimmy Don Walker he preceded her in death on December 13, 1979.
Martha worked for Montgomery Ward in Ft. Worth as a layout and graphics designer, she later worked as Art Director for New Woman Magazine in Ft. Worth. She also worked for Cleburne MHMR as a teacher and retired as a private home health care aide in 1990. Moving to Whitney in 1997, she enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. Martha was of the Baptist faith.
Also preceding her in death were her parents.
Survivors include her children, Cherie Dodds and husband, Dan, Mary Walker and Tracy Hopewell and husband, Alan; sister, Anita Chambers; grand-daughter, Sarah Walker and cousin, Laura Mitchell.
