Marvin L. “Uncle” Neeley, 75, of Whitney, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2013, at a Waco hospital. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 23, 2013 at King Memorial United Methodist Church in Whitney with the Rev. Mike Kerzee and the Rev. Denise Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at the funeral home.
Marvin was born in Canyon, Texas, on January 17, 1938, to the late David W. Neeley and Margaret Elizabeth (Hicks) Neeley. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed working in his yard and his garden because he loved flowers. As a fuel allocator for The Texaco Corporation for 30 years, he worked allocating fuel for the southwestern part of the United States, retiring in 1991. He served his country in the United States Army. Marvin loved children of all ages. He was faithful and active member of King Memorial United Method Church in Whitney and loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by sister, Barbara Johnson and husband, David of Whitney; niece, Linda Kneese and husband, Gary of Kerrville; nephew, David Packebush and wife, Shirley of Whitney; three great-nieces, Suzanne Packebush of Whitney, Neeley Kneese and Kelsey Jarrett and husband, Matt, both of Kerrville; a great-nephew, John David Packebush of Dallas; and great-great-nephew, Justin Carl Eugene Packebush of Whitney; and several cousins and many friends.
