Marvin Cocklebur Niece, 84, of Hillsboro died Thursday, September 24, 2009, in the Temple VA Hospital. He was born June 29, 1925 in Fort Worth the son of Marvin Felix, Sr. and Abby May Cowley Niece. He spent most of his life in Hillsboro. During WWII, he served in country in the U. S. Army as a Medic in the South Pacific and received a Purple Heart. In 1949 he married Margaret McCroy and she preceded him in death on Nov. 5, 1987. For 31 years he worked for Southwestern Bell, retiring in March of 1978. Also preceding him in death were his parents and a son, Larry Gene Niece. Survivors include his children, Kay Wells and husband, Jim, of Hillsboro and Sammie Niece and wife, Kathy, of Virginia Beach, VA; four grandchildren, Jennifer Marie Poe, Samantha Lynn Tanner, Joshua Lynn Wells, and Matthew Alan Wells; and five great-grandchildren.
