Mary Aldridge
Mary Margaret Aldridge passed away on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at her home in Katy, Texas, at 93. She had been diagnosed with cancer five years ago. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 24, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro. Visitation will be Monday, September 23, from 6:00-8:00 PM with Rosary at 7:00 PM at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro.
Mary was born in Marlin, Texas on July 10, 1920 to Theodore and Mary Leona Portele. The family moved to Houston when she was 6 months old. She attended elementary school in Houston, later graduating from Incarnate Word Academy, where she remained an active member of the Alumnae Organization. She went on to continue her education at Houston Business College.
In 1943, she married Morris Adams in San Antonio where he served in the United States Army Air Corps. He preceded her in death in 1965. Together they had three children, Barbara Jean Adams, Bob Adams and Byron Adams. In 1967, Mary married F.M. “Buddy” Aldridge and together they moved to Hillsboro, which is where they settled. Together they built and managed Aldridge Rentals, a successful rental and real estate company.
Mary was an active member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Hillsboro, where she found great joy devoting her time and energies in the servitude of her Lord.
Mary found her greatest joy though, serving as the matriarch of her family which she loved and cared for above all else. She will forever be remembered for her complete selflessness and desire to comfort those around her.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara and husband Dave Hubbert of Simonton; step-daughter, Pat Jones; sister Hazel Reichle of Midland; grandchildren Darrin, Blake, Eric, Aaron, Shana, Robert and Gina; and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by husband F.M “Buddy” Aldridge; her two sons Bob and Byron; her beloved sister Helen Mott, as well as her brother T.J. Portele.
