Mary Baird

Mary "Sis" Baird, 93, of Hillsboro died Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Mary was born September 14, 1912 in Oenaville, Texas the daughter of Louis Frances and Nannie Cleveland Rucker Cooper. She was raised in Bell County and moved to Hill County, in 1934. On December 8, 1934 she married Aubrey Baird. In 1935 they moved back to Bell County and farmed there until 1941. At that time they moved back to Hill County and farmed near Bynum. In 1967 they moved to Hillsboro For 19 years she worked for Grant Buie Hospital as a nurse, retiring in 1983. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Aubrey Baird; two children, Aubrey Louis Baird and Nannie Eglena Baird; one brother, John Cooper; and two sisters, Velma Dobbins and Clara Beaty. Survivors include her children, Gary, Teresa, and Tim of Brandon; three sisters, Louise Leatherwood of Hillsboro, Charlene Vineyard and husband, Joe, of San Marcos, and Marzee Baird of Hillsboro; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
