Ann Bowman, 92, of Hillsboro, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 28, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro with Rev. James Hoskins officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory in Hillsboro. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28 from 12:00-2:00 at Marshall and Marshall in Hillsboro.
Born January 9, 1933, in Hillsboro, Ann was the daughter of Clarence Marvin and Mary Virginia (Leatherwood) Cunningham of Hillsboro. She was the fourth of five siblings and grew up on Tarlton Street until moving to the McMurray community east of Hillsboro when she was in jr. high. Ann graduated from Bynum High School in 1953.
After graduating, Ann worked for Cunningham and Fleming Builders. Soon after, she met the love of her life, Garry Bowman, at Mountain Springs, a "happening spot" for teenagers in Hillsboro in the 1950s. Ann and Garry married in Hubbard, Texas on August 21, 1954, and through this union, two children, Caprice and Mark were born.
The family built their home on Elm Street where Ann and Garry have resided for over 60 years. Ann became a grandmother in 1983. Her grandchildren lovingly called her "Annie" and soon, everyone-friends and family alike-began to call her "Annie" as well.
Ann was an extraordinary homemaker. She was a fabulous cook and shared her culinary talents with loved ones far and near. Pies, cakes, and brownies were her love language, and she found joy in sharing her delicious fare with others. Her comfortable home reflected her style which paired antiques with homestyle country chic. She loved shopping for furniture and home accessories and spent many happy hours at Antique Village in Hillsboro with her daughter and daughter-in-law searching for that perfect accent. Ann also loved fashion AND her soap operas, which provided her years of entertainment and fashion insight.
Ann lived a long and meaningful life loving others. She was loyal, she cared for family and neighbors and would help where help was needed. Her legacy is one of love, laughter, and care.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her sisters Dorris Stokes and Pat Land, and her brothers Charles Cunningham and Bill Cunningham. Survivors left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 70 years, Garry Bowman; children Caprice Marley and husband, Tony and Mark Bowman and wife, Sheila, all of Hillsboro; grandchildren Phillip Bowman and wife Holly of Maumee, Ohio, Abbey Nucci and husband, Michael of Crockett, Maggie Rose and husband, Chad of Aledo, Ethan Bowman and wife, Gayle of Royse City, and Tyler Bowman of Waco; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Nucci, Hunter Nucci, Everett Rose, Collin Bowman, Celia Nucci, Marley Rose, Rocco Nucci, Hannah Bowman, Ellis Bowman, Wells Bowman, and a soon-to-be born great-grand-blessing Bowman; beloved sister-in-law, Jean Ann Cunningham and numerous nieces and nephews who considered Ann their favorite aunt.
Memorials may be made to First Methodist Church in Hillsboro, Christ Lutheran Church of Hillsboro, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure.
You are loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
We love you, Annie.
