Mary Johnson

Mary Ann Johnson, 67, of Arlington, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away Thursday morning, March 9, 2017, at Medical City in Arlington. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Amy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, March 13, at the funeral home.

Mary Ann was born June 24, 1949, in Fort Worth to Fred and Mary Ann (Kovarnik) Karlicek. She grew up in Bedford and was a 1967 graduate of L. D. Bell High School. In 1970, she moved to Covington. Mary Ann went to work for KHBR and The Reporter in December 1971 and retired July 31, 2015. She loved to get together with her friends and play cards. In her spare time, she volunteered at Hill County Paw Pals.

Preceding her in death were her parents and nephew, Keith Karlicek.

Survivors include her daughter, Rachael Johnson and Jamie Rigsby of Arlington; three brothers, Freddie Karlicek of Covington, Henry Karlicek and wife, Debbie, of Blum, and Milan Karlicek of Houston; grandson, Grayson Rigsby of Arlington; and nieces and nephews, Micah Karlicek, Kevin Karlicek, Tony Karlicek, Amanda Amaya, and Carolyn Karlicek.
