Mary Lucko, 76, of Hubbard passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011, in Hubbard. Memorial graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011, at Penelope Cemetery in Penelope. A memorial service will follow at the Penelope Hall. The family request that if you are attending the services to please dress casual.
Mary was born October 17, 1934 near Hillsboro to William James Porter and Stella Mae Dennis. She grew up near Hillsboro and lived in Penelope most of her life. For the past year and a half she lived in Hubbard. On April 14, 1951 she married Alvis Lucko and he preceded her in death on July 13, 2000. She was a clerk at a local grocery store and for the past 20 years of her life she was a babysitter. She loved to fish. Mary had a green thumb and loved to garden and raise roses and cacti. She was a member of Malone Baptist Church.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; son, Ronald Glenn Lucko; two sisters, Francis Marie Porter and Letha Mae Earnheart; and two brothers, William Alfred Porter and James Henry Porter.
Survivors include her three children, Mary Joyce Pesak of Needville, James Alvis Lucko of Malone, and Cynthia Ann Holmes of Hubbard; two brothers, Odell Porter of Burleson and Sam Porter of Austin; three sisters, Ruth Reed of Austin and Patsy Wiggins and Peggy Davis both of Smithville; 11 grandchildren; a great number of great-grandchildren; and a large and loving extended family.
