Mary Moore

Mary Odom Moore, 98, of Whitney died Monday, August 6, 2007, at Town Hall Estates Nursing Home in Hillsboro. Mary was born March 6, 1909 in Aquilla, Texas the daughter of Lem and Sarah Matthews Odom. She was a longtime resident of Whitney and served as an elementary teacher and as a principal for 43 years in the Whitney ISD. On October 21, 1931 she married Floyd Moore and he preceded her in death in December 1934. She was a 50 year member of Delta Kappa Gamma and a longtime member of King Memorial United Methodist Church in Whitney. Also preceding her in death were her parents and a daughter, Elinor Ann Moore Miller. Survivors include a daughter, La Jean Moore Overton and husband, Oliver Roy, of Burleson; sister, Eunice Odom Baker of Whitney; granddaughter, Tammy Overton of Burleson; grandson, Larry Overton and wife, Kathi, and their sons, Brent & Blake, all of Richardson; and numerous other relatives and friends.
