Mary Peters

Mary Dovie Cypert Peters died at 11:55 AM on June 30, 2011 at Kindred Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Born in Prairie Valley near Whitney, Texas on October 14, 1918, she was the daughter of the late F. G. and Myrtle Cypert, and was next to the oldest of 12 children.

When Mary was young, her family moved to west Texas in a covered wagon. While working in Lubbock, she met and married Sgt. J. L. "Pete" Peters. Pete served in the Air Force in England during World War II. Upon his return home, he worked in various jobs until he went into the trucking business. Following his death, Mary also worked at various jobs, including at the Whitney Hospital. She had lived in Lubbock, Whitney, and Marshall, and for the past 4 years had been a resident of the Ranchwood Village Nursing Home in Yukon, Oklahoma.

Preceding her in death were her husband, J. L. Peters; 5 sisters, Frances Cypert, Katherine Prentiss, Viola Wallace, Lannie Montgomery, and Tommie Foote; and one brother, Jim Cypert.

Mary is survived by 4 brothers and their spouses, Roy Cypert, Eli and Jean Cypert, Claud and Betty Cypert, all of Oklahoma City; Lee and Judith Cypert of Arizona; one sister and spouse, Ruth and John Scasta of Marshall, TX.; one sister-in-law Dorothy Cypert of Roseville, CA.; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

She found great joy in the visits of all her nieces and nephews, and also the opportunity to visit with everyone at her family reunions. Mary especially loved a good game of 42.
