Mary Ponder

Mary F. Ponder, 68, of Kerens died Tuesday, September 1, 2009, in Kerens. Mary was born October 21, 1940 in Los Angeles, CA the daughter of William and Julianne Scallon Grassman. On February 12, 1999 she married Monroe Ponder in Hill County and he preceded her in death on December 11, 2003. She enjoyed being a teachers aide and working with children. An avid crossword puzzle worker and bingo player, Mary loved fishing, camping, and animals, especially her dogs and cats. She was a member of Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Malakoff. Also preceding her in death were her parents; first husband, David Depew; and a brother, William Memo Grassman. Survivors include seven children, William Depew of Kerens, Joe Depew of Oakley, CA, Charles Chuck Depew of Oakley, CA, James Depew of Livermore, CA, Diane Kirchner of Oakley, CA, Robert Depew of Las Vegas, NV, and Marie Weiss of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Mary Grassman of Rosemede, CA; and nine grandchildren.
