Mary Lee (Elias) Rodriguez

Mary Lee Rodriguez, age 83 of Itasca, Texas, passed away Monday, June 3, 2024. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM, Friday, June 7, 2024, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro, with burial to follow at Itasca Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors.

Mary, also known as “Necha,” by her friends and family, was born September 12, 1940, in Pecos, Texas to Lorenzo and Paula Elias. She grew up in Itasca, Texas and was raised by her Aunt Bonifacia Elias Lara and uncle, Cesaria Lara. Mary was united in marriage to Joe Luis Rodriguez on December 14, 1957. She retired from Itasca ISD after working in the school cafeteria for over twenty years. She enjoyed spending time with family and sitting outdoors listening to her music and caring for her plants and flowers. Mary also enjoyed her visits with her sister, Jesse Garcia, when they made their trips to Walmart.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Luis Rodriguez; her son, Larry Rodriguez; her granddaughter, Chrystal Lee Ervin; and her sister, Aurora Reyes. Mary is survived by her daughters, Patricia Rodriguez and Carolyn  Zamudio; her son, Joe Luis Rodriguez, Jr. and his wife, Kathy; grandchildren, Adam Rodriguez and wife, Colleen O’Hearn, Jessika Rodriguez, Lindsey Zamudio, Nate Rodriguez, and Gabbie Rodriguez; great-grandchildren, Jasmyn Rodriguez, Aleigha Rodriguez, Brooklynn Rodriguez, Jaelyn Rodriguez and Avery Rodriguez; and her sisters, Jessie Garcia, Rosa Porras, and Tomasa Madrid.
