Mary Mae Russell, 81, of Abbott passed away Saturday morning, December 21, 2019, at West Rest Haven. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2019, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Mr. David Snipes officiating. Burial will follow at Bell Springs Cemetery near Abbott. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 22, at the funeral home.
Mary Mae was born November 9, 1938, in Abbott to Benjamin Clifford and Blanche (Bruce) Morgan. She attended Abbott schools and was a 1957 graduate of Abbott High School. On August 22, 1960, in Blooming Grove, Mary Mae married the love of her life, Morris Russell. He preceded her in death on November 10, 2018.
For many years, Mary Mae worked in the medical field. She worked for Dr. Guffy, Dr. Johnson, and retired from working for Dr. Manax at the West Medical Clinic in 2000.
An avid doll collector, she also enjoyed collecting Precious Moments figurines. She was a member of Abbott Baptist Church.
Family was everything to Mary Mae. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren making many loving memories brought great joy to her life. She also loved sitting on the patio talking and the Sunday family get-togethers that were had. An excellent cook, she was known for her extremely good dewberry cobbler.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Wendell Morgan, Billy Morgan, Glenn Morgan, Benny Morgan, and Donald Lee Morgan; and sister, Margie Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Buster Russell and wife, Sharon, Tim Russell and wife, Shirley, and Emily Glatter and husband, Tommy; sister, Pauline Etter and husband, Livy; brother-in-law, Lynn Russell and wife, Susan; sister-in-law, Ella Morgan; grandchildren, Brad Russell and wife, Amy, Travis Russell and wife, Meagan, Kelsey Russell, Ross Langdale, Ethan Langdale and fiancée, Katie, Aaron Glatter, Jessica Russell, and Jared Russell; four great-grandchildren, Hogan, Brinley, Railey, and Waylon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
