Mary Lee Schmid

Mary Lee Schmid, age 74 of Whitney passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation Nursing Home in Hillsboro. A memorial service in her remembrance will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney.

Mary was born May 5, 1948, in San Angelo, Texas to Clyde and Betty (Richard) DePauw.  She graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock, Texas, and went to Hill Junior College in Hillsboro for real estate. Mary was united in marriage August 25, 1972, to Richard Schmid. She had her first and only child, Stephen and was born in 1980. They moved to Ruidoso, NM in 1993 and later moved back to Whitney in 2007.

Mary worked as a Vice President of data processing, real estate agent, and multiple retail shops (JC Penney’s, Levi Straus, Michelle’s in Ruidoso NM). She absolutely loved cooking and throwing parties!!! Mimi would do anything to get all her family and friends together in one place. She loved chickens and red gingham check! Her grandchildren were her WORLD.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law, Brian Meyer, and grandson, Josh Jones.

Mary is survived by husband, Richard Schmid; son, Stephen Schmid & Wife Jamie Schmid; step daughters, Vicki Schmid & Husband Jim Barnett, Debbie Jones & Husband Terry Jones, and Linda Vail & Husband Scott Vail; sister, Sharon Meyer; niece, Michelle Coleman and family; grandchildren, Shelby Gomez & Husband Victor Gomez, Madison Hernandez & Husband Jared Hernandez, Zachary Wagnon & Wife Kim Wagnon, Tyler Wagnon & Wife Katie Wagnon, Casey Jones & Wife Brittnay Jones, Samantha Jones; step grandchildren, JT Barnett and family; Cameron & Kirsten Vail and family; and 16 great grandchildren, Cambria Sanford, Jolene Schmid, Bradyn Dickie, Kaley Dickie, Caroline Gomez, Cris Gomez, Camila Gomez, Ciara Gomez, Julian Hernandez, Karsyn Jones, Tateum Jones, Joshlynn Jones, Eli Jones, and 3 more great grandchildren on the way.
