Mary Smith

Mary Edith Smith, 60, of Whitney passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center-Hillcrest in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at the Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Pastor Paul Shearin officiating. Burial will follow at Waxahachie City Cemetery in Waxahachie. Visitation will be from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, at the funeral home.

Born April 29, 1958, in Arlington, she was the daughter of Jack and Mary (Coffman) Ketcher. Mary team drove with her husband, Tommy Smith, in the trucking business for many years. She also worked as a caregiver, was employed at several nursing facilities in the area, and was a store clerk at the Lamp Post, Kountry Grocery, and Bill’s Dollar Store through the years. In her spare time, she love to travel and see the countryside. Mary also enjoyed shopping at thrift stores, garage sales, and the mall on 2604. She was an avid animal lover, reader, movie watcher, and a member of the Water Street Baptist Church in Waxahachie.

Preceding her in death were her parents; granddaughter, Kimberly Lee Salisbury; and grandson, William Salisbury, III.

Survivors include her loving husband, Tommy Smith of Whitney; children, Rebecca Bender and fiancé, Jamie Haynes, of Whitney, Sharon Densman and fiancé, Adan Alejandro, of Hillsboro, Mary Price and husband, Nathan, of Hillsboro, Bobbie Jo Williams and spouse, Kimberli Densman, of Hillsboro, Tommy Ray Smith, III and wife, Alex, of Waxahachie, Tommy Ray Davis and wife, Veronica, of Italy, Elizabeth Dawn Malkuch and husband, Mitch, of Guymon, OK, and Angela Gail Martin and husband, Toby, of Guymon, OK; brother, Robert Ketcher and wife, Jan, of Ross; mother-in-law, Alice Nadine Smith of Waxahachie; 31 grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
