Matthew Scott Daniel

Matthew Scott Daniel, 52, of Maypearl, Texas, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024, in Maypearl, Texas. A FUNERAL SERVICE WILL TAKE PLACE AT 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 18, 2024, at  MARSHALL & MARSHALL FUNERAL DIRECTORS. A visitation will take place from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Friday, May 17, 2024, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Matt was born on April 4, 1972, in Austin, Texas, to Ronnie and Judy Daniel. He graduated from Itasca High School. Matt served in the United States Navy and participated in Operation Desert Storm during the Gulf War. He spent his career in various roles including truck driver, construction and most recently, ranch manager.

He loved spending time with his children, hunting, fishing, hanging out with family and friends and generally spending time outdoors. His children, Tanner and Emma, were his entire world and his greatest accomplishment and joy. He enjoyed teaching his children to work around the ranch, driving ATVs and caring for the various animals. Some of Matt’s biggest smiles were on a recent family trip to Hawaii where he went shark diving with Emma and body surfing in the ocean with Tanner. He was so proud of his children and his family  and friends will hold dear the stories they will be privileged to tell them one day of their funny, loving father. He was also his mother’s “right hand man” and he was extremely devoted to her. He also loved saying his catch phrase “C’mon” whenever possible. Everyone who ever had the pleasure of knowing Matt has a story to tell. Matt was a great man, son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, relative and friend. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them and if you knew him, you knew it. He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie Daniel. Matt is survived by his mother, Judy Daniel; brother, Stephen Daniel; son, Tanner Daniel, daughter, Emma Daniel; aunts and uncles, DeeAnn and Brett Barnes, Jan Bailey, Susan Strickland; nieces, Madison Daniel and Teagan Daniel; nephew, Lincoln Daniel; cousins Justin Barnes, Stephanie Frank, Jeff Bailey, Bryan Bailey, and Brooke Finney along with many other relatives and friends.
