Maurice Sides, 84 of Whitney passed away November 11, 2011.
Services will be held Monday, November 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Fort Graham Baptist Church in Whitney with Dr. Allan Lane officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Sunday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.
Maurice was born on August 7, 1927 in Dallas; the son of the late Matthew Alexander and Eula Mae (Oxford) Sides. He grew up in Dallas and served in the United States Navy during the last part of World War II. On April 24, 1947, he married Bessie F. Mitchell and she preceded him in death on March 15, 2000. He had worked as an upholster in a commercial furniture manufacturer as supervisor over the cutting room. Maurice was a member of Fort Graham Baptist Church and the Blum Masonic Lodge.
Also preceding him in death were his brother, Bob Sides and sister, Ann Jaeger.
Survivors include his daughter, Gwen Corzine and husband, Larry of North Richland Hills; sister, Sue Dennis and husband Billy Joe of Gorman; 2 grandsons, Chris M. Corzine and wife, Andrea of Kathleen, GA, Lt. Col Larry M. Corzine and wife, Teresa of Norfolk, VA; 4 great granddaughters, Alyxandrea Corzine, Nicole and husband Lt. Jimmy Harding, Candice Standfield and Aphton Brooke Lane.
