Maurine Connally, 92, of Hillsboro died Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Maurine was born December 29, 1913 in Lorena, Texas the daughter of Herbert Aubrey and Nell Lorraine Stubblefield Maxey. She grew up in Lorena and graduated high school there. In 1931 she married Jack Connally and he preceded her in death in April 1993. For several years she served as a rural mail carrier in Lorena and later worked in the Post Office there. Very active in her church, Maurine was a member of First Baptist Church in Lorena where she sang solos and in the choir and taught 4-5 year olds for over 30 years. She moved to Hillsboro following the death of her husband in 1993. While in Hillsboro she attended Central Christian Church. Also preceding her in death were her parents. Survivors include her twin sister, Maxine Steel and husband, Jack, of Hillsboro; two nieces, Ann Steel Simmons and husband, Steve, of Atlanta and Karen Valentine and husband, Larry, of Waco; many cousins, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews; and many friends.
