Maurine Morgan

Maurine Inez Sessums Morgan, 73, passed away peacefully at home on February 24, 2005, with her loving husband at her side. Maurine was born on January 4, 1932 to Roy Lee and Minnie Rice Sessums. She lost her mother shortly after her birth. She was born on a farm home in the Kirby Community. She attended schools in Tehuacana and Mexia area and graduated from Itasca in 1949. She married Benjamin Morgan, July 29, 1950 and began life as a military wife. Maurine was the center of her family, she watched over her family as they moved from Arizona, Japan, Germany, France and several locations in Texas. She adapted to the hardships and inconvenience of being a military wife with no complaints, giving only love, comfort and a sense of security to her husband and children. During her husband?s military career she often gave up the comforts of one home to go to another with just bare essentials in order to keep her family together. Where ever she went, she tried to leave it a better place than when she arrived. She always had a smile and a word of comfort for her family and friends. One of Maurine?s most endearing qualities was her ability to find the good in everyone. She never had an unkind word for anyone. Benny and Maurine retired from the military in October of 1969. They then returned to Abbott, Texas were they reside still. Maurine was her husband?s right hand; she was a jack-of-all-trades. She would help him put together a motor, help with plumbing. She sewed, crocheted, and quilted. She made the best dill pickles in the world and was a great cook. Maurine is preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Benjamin; a grandson, Morgan Bullard; and two step-mothers, Lillian and Mary Sessums. She is survived by the love of her life, Benjamin Morgan; five children, Patricia Bullard and her husband, Newell, of Lacy Lakeview, David Morgan and wife, Cathy, of Whitney, Beverly Cantwell and husband, Mike, of Waco, Brenda Schulz and husband, Billy of Abbott, and Billy Morgan and wife, Lisa, of Whitney; two brothers, Welton Sessums and wife, Ludell, of Hallsville, and Danny Sessums and wife, Cheryl, of Las Vegas, Nevada; a sister, Dianna Sessums of Wichita, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Providence Hospice, especially to Tim, Barbara, Ester, and Misty. Their help enabled us to care for Mama in our home.
