Maurine Steele, 90, of Whitney, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2012, at Town Hall Estates.
Graveside services will be held, Thursday, July 5, at 10:00 AM at Ridge Park Cemetery, Hillsboro, with Brother Ken Steffen of First Baptist Church of Aquilla, officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 4, from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

Maurine was born in Aquilla, Tx on March 12, 1922, to the late Homer and Rosa Lee (Bailey) Welch. She was raised in Aquilla, graduated from Aquilla High School in 1940 and received a Business certificate from the National School of Business in 1943. She resided in Abbott before moving to Town Hall Estates in Whitney. Maurine worked as a secretary at Kroehler, Manufacturing Company in Dallas, from 1947-1955. She then worked for Grant Buie Hospital as a medical transcriptionist until her retirement. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, and spending time with family. Maurine was a life long member of First Baptist Church of Aquilla.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband Wendell Odell Steele on June 1, 1968; daughter Deborah Sue Clepper on September 30, 2001; and sister Adell K. Welch on June 15, 2006.

Survivors include a son-in-law, Jerry Clepper of Aquilla; three grandchildren, Jason Clepper and wife, Ricci of Robinson; Michelle Valero, and husband, Chad of Abbott; and Kevin Clepper and wife, Tiffany of Aquilla; three great-grandchildren Abigail and Nicholas Valero of Abbott, and Laurel Clepper of Robinson.
