Mavis Condley Masson, 92, of Hillsboro passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 8, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Rev. Andrew Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Peoria Cemetery in Peoria. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, February 7, at the funeral home.

Mavis was born September 5, 1920 in Richardson to Mahlon and Erlean (Lamar) Condley. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, and also attended Dallas Bible Institute. For a number of years, she worked as manager in the audio visual department of Dallas Bible Book Store.

On February 12, 1967, she married Rev. Charles Masson at First Baptist Church in Richardson and shared his pastoral calling as a dedicated pastor’s wife throughout their years together. He preceded her in death in 1986. During her time at Homestead Nursing Home, Mavis served as a goodwill ambassador, ministering to as many people as she could. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; two sisters, Anna Gates and Peggy Shultz; niece, Ethlean Luopa; and nephew, Tim Gates.

Survivors include her children, Janene MacIvor and husband, Duncan, of Nashville, TN, Janice Lewis and husband, Larry, of Laporte, CO, Robert Masson and wife, Kim Nguyen, of Plano, Ronald Masson and wife, Kandy, of Ulysses, KS, and Beth Ann Morris and husband, John, of Bellvue, CO; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; nieces, Shirley Morgan Terranella and husband, Philip, of Whitney, Beverly Graham and husband, Jimmy, of Cleburne, and Barbara O’Clair and husband, Al, of Billingham, WA; and a number of great-nephews and nieces including, Mike Morgan and fiancé, Pamela Rhoads and Michelle Morgan, who were her caregivers.

Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, P. O. Box 263, Hillsboro, TX 76645 or to the charity of one’s choice.
