Maxine Jean, 89, of Blum died October 21, 2007 in a Hillsboro nursing home. Maxine was born March 20, 1918 in Sulphur Springs, TX the daughter of John Edward and Lola May Gibbons Acrey. She grew up in East Texas near Longview and Sulfur Springs. She moved to New York as a teenager for a few years before moving to Dallas , where she lived until 1957. She married Calvin Burrel Jean in April, 1956, and he preceded her in death January 11, 1992. Shortly after leaving Dallas, she settled in Blum where she worked diligently in support of Jawbone Cemetery near Blum. She was active in quilting and crocheting for a number of years, and was helpful taking care of older friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed the outdoors?both fishing and hunting. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Jeral Acrey and Jervis Acrey and 1 sister, Mary Bynum. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Dallas and was a member of the Covington Church of Christ in Covington, TX. Survivors include three children, Foy Dale Missildine of the Jawbone Community, James C. Jean, Sr. and wife Caron of Irving, and Gayle Jeannine Ronk and husband Mike of Las Vegas, NV; 8 grandchildren; and 10 Great grandchildren.
