Melba Aline Paxton, 90 of Whitney passed away on January 13, 2012.
Services will be held Monday, January 16, 2012 at 2 PM at King Memorial United Methodist Church in Whitney with Rev. Mike Kerzee and Rev. Jerry Irwin officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 2 PM at Altus City Cemetery in Altus, OK. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 PM Sunday at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.
Aline was born on August 6, 1921 in Jackson County, OK. to the late Buster and Ethel Mae Pottorff Leonard. She lived in Jackson County most of her life. On March 23, 1940, she married Hayward L. Paxton in Altus, OK. and he preceded her in death on August 9, 1998. She and her husband farmed in Jackson County for many years. She also worked for J. C. Penney, retiring from there in 1983 after 20 years of service. For the past 1 ½ years, she had resided with her son, Roy and his wife, Karen in Whitney.
She enjoyed knitting, sewing and sang and played piano. For many years, Aline played piano for the Humphrey Baptist Church in OK. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Altus, OK. Also preceding her in death were her brother, Bud Leonard and sister, Margaret Leonard Landers.
Survivors include her children, Linda Sue Moore of Dallas, Roy Kenneth Paxton and wife, Karen of Whitney; 5 grandchildren, Terri Lynn Bryan and husband, Kevin of Bartlesville, OK, Tina Sue Moore of Dallas, Tracy Moore of Enid, OK, Ken Paxton and wife, Tina of Hillsboro, Karie Lee Bradley and husband, Bart of Henderson; 9 great grandchildren, Mason, Griffin and Easton Paxton, Kamden Bryan, Taylor Valdez, Klint, Kenny and Kolby McCown and Manning Bradley.
