Melva Bonner, of Whitney, passed away on November 27, 2014 in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 1, 2014, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney with Pastor Gerald Dudley officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Sunday, November 30, 2014, at the funeral home.
Melva was born in Irving, Texas, on August 25, 1945, to M.R. and Evelyn (Watson) Mantooth.
She was a kind, generous, caring person who put others above herself. On January 19, 1963, she married Benny Bonner in Whitney. She was a homemaker and a member of Open Range Cowboy Church of Whitney.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Benny Joe Bonner of Whitney; step-mother, Lyzetta Mantooth of Trinidad; children, Christie Bonner and husband, Chuck, of Whitney, Robert Bonner and wife, Rachel, of Whitney; grandchildren, Robert Bonner, Jr., Derek Bonner and Amity Bonner; sisters, Pam Porter of Tyler and Donna Wittington of Atlanta and brother Felix Shaw of Trinidad; nieces, Dana, Janet and Shelley; and nephews, Danny and Scottie.
