Melva Jean (Goodwin) White

Melva Jean White, amazing waitress and homemaker, passed away peacefully at home on May 30, 2020 at the age of 85.

Jean was born in Hamburg, Iowa to Roy and Valla Goodwin who proceeded her in death. She was an avid fisherman and at one time one of the top 10 women bass fisherman in Texas.

She enjoyed bowling, working in her yard and spending time with her family. She was one to always tell you the truth when asked and never hesitated to stand-up for the underdog.

She retired from her career as a waitress after 18 years at Catfish Sam’s.

She is survived by many who love her and will miss her. Her partner in love and life Michael White who will still tell you that a day has not passed that he didn’t love every perfection and flaw she had. Five children, Ricky Wagner, Timothy Wagner, Ronald Thomas and wife Mary Thomas, Scott Thomas and daughter Danielle White. She has also left behind a granddaughter Kylie White whom she adored and will be waiting until they can again “get a line and a pole and meet down at the crawdad hole”. Matt Eilers and Kaleb Allen will mourn the loss of the women who had taking them in as hers as well and many a talk, movie and a kiss on the cheek will be missed. She is also survived by a sister Phyllis Athens and numerous other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family who love her.
