Melvin Joe Bush, age 68 of Whitney went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, in Waco. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Bro. Gerald Dudley officiating and Dean Stovall reading Eulogy. Burial will follow at Smith Bend-Coon Creek in Laguna Park. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm Monday, December 6, 2021, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.
Melvin was born May 13, 1953, in Houston, Texas to James and Patsy (Sanders) Bush. He was an avid outdoorsman. In his early adulthood he owned a carpet store and laid carpet all over the United States. For the next 37 years he was the senior fishing guide on Lake Whitney. Fishing was his joy, passion, and his drive. Melvin was hardworking, loving, and caring man. He never met a stranger and was one of a kind.
Melvin is survived by his two daughters, Rachel Bush and fiancé Roger Hestand, of Hillsboro and Gabrielle Renick and boyfriend Zack Nelson, of Clifton; sister, Theresa Byrd and husband Gary, and nieces and nephews, of North Richland Hills; significant other, Kim Turnbough, of Whitney; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his father, James Bush; mother, Patsy Bush; and sister, Annette Samford.
Memorials may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
