Melvin Waddell

Melvin T. Waddell, 74, of Whitney, passed away on September 11, 2014 at a Waco hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors in Whitney.

Melvin was born on August 31, 1940, in Akron Ohio, to Clifford and Ella Waddell. On July 8, 1995, he married Christy Holcomb in Liberty, Texas. He enjoyed bluegrass and country western music and playing the guitar for his family and friends. He was “pops” to everyone. He was of the Jehovah Witness faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bill, Lou and Clifford Waddell.

He is survived by his wife, Christy of Whitney; children, Sarah Lynn Leslie and husband, Bobby of Waco, Dallas Wayne Waddell of Whitney, Tommy Waddell and wife, Tracy of Stephenville, Craig Waddell and wife, Rachel, Rusty Wayne Holcomb, Luke Waddell and Nicholas Jacob Waddell, all of Whitney; grandchildren, Krystal, Robert, Kimberly, Justin, Austin, Alexis, Kyle and Cooper T; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Bud Waddell and wife, Pat of Trinity, Bob Waddell of San Angelo, and Gary Waddell and wife, Barbara of Burleson.
