Merle Davis

Gravside services for Merle Newman Davis will be observed on June 30, at 11:00 A.M. at her ancestral cemetery, Fairview, near Grady in Crenshaw County Alabama.

Born July 27, 1917, at Porterdale, Georgia, to Willie Lee Vann and Hugh Green Newman, Merle lived most of her life in the Columbus, Georgia / Phenix City, Alabama area. The last years of her life were spent in Central Texas near her son “Buck” where she died on June 22, 2013. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Katherine Davis; granddaughter Rebecca Davis; siblings Mildred Windham, Billy Newman, Leon Newman and Marjorie Cook.

She is survived by her sons, Norman “Buck” Davis and Michael Davis; daughters, Mary Ann Davis Daniel and Gloria Davis Word; six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
