Michael Smith

Michael James Smith, 60, of Hillsboro died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at his residence. Michael was born May 10, 1946 in Batavia, NY the son of Elton J. and Rita M. Follett Smith. His family moved to Argentina and then to Louisiana before settling in Hurst where his father was a test pilot for Bell, Int. Michael graduated from Fort Worth Christian High School and attended Abilene Christian College for a year before entering the Air Force where he served in Viet Nam. While working for Bell, Int., Michael traveled to Iran for a time. He also worked for several other defense contractors. On December 28, 1990 he married Susan Broom in Greenville, TX. He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Euless. Preceding him in death were his father in 1989 and mother-in-law, Maureen Broom, on August 15, 2003. Survivors include his wife, Susan C. Smith of Hillsboro; mother, Rita M. Smith of Colleyville; children, Stephanie Dennis and husband, Kip, of Grapevine, Amy Waskom and husband, Johnny, of Joshua, Jennifer Oliver and James Bond of Dallas, Robert Chad Smith and wife, Emily, of Bristol, CT, Gregory Smith of Hurst, and Angela Crites of Mineral Wells; brother, David ?Chip? Smith and wife, Jill, of Colleyville; sisters, Carol Dickey of Colleyville and Michelle Price and husband, Thomas, of Middleburg, VA; eight grandchildren; and father-in-law and friend, Robert Broom of Woodville.
