Mike Warren, age 68 of Lake Whitney and Dallas died April 15, 2011. Funeral services will be at the Open Range Cowboy Church, 582 FM 1713, near Whitney, TX on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 11 a.m with Mr. Don Maloney officiating. Fellowship will follow. Viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday evening at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors, 201 N. Bosque (Hwy 22) in Whitney.
Mike was born in Greenville, TX on Oct 14, 1942, the son of Victor and Hazel (Gray) Warren. With a career in the insurance industry that spanned 50 years, his legacy in the insurance business has been preserved in a wide variety of marketing ventures. He founded Markman Group which was one of the most successful insurance marketing groups in the United States. He also was a pioneer in the selling of senior products such as Long Term Care and Medicare Supplements and agency development techniques. His agency established a national footprint of more than 24,000 agents in 46 states developed from 1974 until the time of his death.
He and his wife, Gail, shared their passion of their cattle and ranching business. Many people in the Central Texas area knew them because of their joy of getting groups together to enjoy these pursuits. The couple also donated to a wide variety of charities worldwide and of diverse origins.
Mike recently celebrated 33 years of continuous sobriety in the Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous. He was often invited to speak around the country in celebrating his theme of God’s Grace in the midst of our lives.
Survivors include his wife, Gail; son, Jeff Warren and wife, Dianne and their children Savannah, William, and Neal of Dallas; daughter, Jennifer Warren and her daughter Hannah of Dallas; 3 brothers, David Warren and wife, Rae Ann of Alvord, Bill Warren and wife, Billin and Philip Warren and wife, Teresa, all of Dallas; sister, Vicki Warren; father-in-law, Robert Olson of San Antonio and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
