Michael Alan Young

Michael Alan Young age 66 of Whitney, Texas died on Monday, November 29,2021 in Temple, Texas from a brain hemorrhage.

Mike was born in Dallas, Texas to Billie and Leonard Young where he and his sister Judy grew up in a loving home. He graduated from R.L.Turner High School but his heart was gone to his first love, racing, before the cap and gown was on.  Mike was an accomplished Motocross racer and drag racer but also raced at any moment in any situation. The day after his hip replacement he was racing an 84-year-old double knee replacement patient down the hall on their walkers. His love for the sport lasted all his life but the passion was gone when he lost his beloved mother. After racing ended, he found a new passion, youth, and high school football. The all-day Texas State Football finals trip was legendary and the highlight of his year.

His other great passion was his family. He dearly loved our children and grandchildren; he was their superhero. No request was too large or too small, he was there with love, compassion and sometimes with a firm hand but always total dedication.

Mike worked 40 years at one job, always steady, reliable, and just plain fun. He was always there with a joke, a hug or even song and dance when all else failed to bring a smile to your face.  He spoke often of the many friends he made over the years and treasured the support of these lifelong relationships. Mike never met a person he was not interested in and made everyone he met feel accepted.

I knew this man for 18 years and we traveled the world together. He was always reaching for my hand to hold or giving me a touch for reassurance. He was my person, my best friend, my forever. He will be missed.

Mike is survived by his wife, Christine Herbert of Whitney, Texas. his 9 children Jason Young and Trysta Kennedy of Waxahachie, Shamar and Robyn Brown of Arlington, Joni and Hank Blair of Providence, Megann and Clint Bristow of Whitney, Joshua and Janeen Eldredge of Buckeye, AZ, Kerry and Jessica Eldredge of Penn Valley, CA, Shane Eldredge of Whitney, Kurt Eldredge and Angie Hess of Spanish Fork, UT, and Nichole and Robert Chesser of Waxahachie, his sister Judy Young of Waxahachie, 33 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. We were truly blessed and surrounded by love.
