Mildred was born April 24, 1918 in Malone, Texas to Margaret Jane Wells Wright and James Thomas Wright. She grew up in Malone and graduated from Malone High School in 1936. She attended Hillsboro Junior College for one year and then graduated from North Texas State Teachers College in Denton in 1939. She began her teaching career in Penelope and also taught at Hillsboro Jr. College, Mayfield, Brandon, Franklin, Cleveland, Tokio, Emhouse, Hubbard, and Abbott. In 1960, she received her Masters of Science in Education from Baylor University. Later she received her counseling certification from Baylor and began working for the Hill County Schools Coop and then Region 12 Service Center as a counselor at several schools in Hill County. On May 14, 1942 she married Monroe B. Yarbrough. They had more than 61 years of happy marriage before his death on February 2 of this year. Her hobbies included cooking and reading. Survivors include a son, Randall Yarbrough of Denver, CO; a daughter, Karon Eastland and husband, Dennis, of McKinney; three grandchildren, Elaine Starkey and husband, Jerod, of Dallas, Brian Eastland of Waco, and Kristen Eastland of McKinney; and a sister, Para Porter Van Zandt of Waco. Memorials may be made to one's charity of choice.
