Milton Frank Jonas 90, of Whitney passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, July 11, 2014, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2014 at the funeral home prior to the service.
Milton was born on June 6, 1924 in Karnes City, Texas, to Edwin and Olga ( Tiemann ) Jonas.
Milton grew up in Karnes City and graduated Karnes City High School, he also served in the United States Army. He married Dorothy Sunkel on April 8, 1950, she preceded him in death on April 8, 2012. In 1968 they moved to Whitney, where he worked in heavy construction all around Texas, building bridges and roads. Milton retired in 1986 and enjoyed gardening, traveling,fishing and camping and woodworking. He also enjoyed doing mechanic work in his spare time. Milton was a member of the Order of The Sons of Herman in Karnes City, Texas.
Preceding him in death was his son Arther Roy Jonas in 1986.
Suvivors include; his daughter, Carol Sue Jonas- Simons, and husband Rick, of Belton, Texas, sister; Della Stuart, of Kingsbury, Texas, grandchildren; Amanda Jonas, Edwin Jonas, Casie Boynton, Jeremy Ellis, Mikey Simons, six great-grandchildren and two nephews.
