Milton Smith

Milton Eugene Smith, 83, of Itasca passed away Thursday evening May 17, 2018, at Park Plaza Nursing Home in Whitney. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2018, at the Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Hillsboro with Dr. Steve Peace and Rev. Darrel Beggs officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 20, at the funeral home.

Born June 29, 1934 in Abbott, he was the son of Floy and Susie (McCullough) Smith. He grew up in Hillsboro where he attended schools. For 22 years, Milton worked for Certain-Teed Corporation. He later went to work for Southwest Underground in Houston and finally for various municipalities, retiring in 2007.

He served his country in the United States Navy beginning on March 26, 1952 and was honorably discharged in San Francisco, CA. On September 8, 1956, Milton was united in marriage to Patsy Jo Worlow and she preceded him in death on August 27, 2010.

Milton was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro. He took great pride in being a Mason and was a very active member of Blum Masonic Lodge #607, R. E. Lee Masonic Lodge #449, and Whitney Masonic Lodge #355. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Also preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Smith and wife, Mary, of Houston and Randell Smith of Hillsboro; two sisters, Mary Whitley of Euless and Ruth Orren and husband, Gary, of Fort Worth; two grandchildren, Randell Guy Smith and Kimery Smith, both of Houston; two step-grandchildren, Christina Monclova of Binghampton, NY and Ronald D. Manning of Eagle Pass; and a great-grandson, Keaton Wayne Kaus of Spring.
