Mitchell Way

Mitchell K. “Mickey” Way
Oct. 31,1944 - May 6, 2012

Mickey died Sunday morning May 6, 2012 at his home after a long battle with congestive heart failure. He was born and raised in Sweetwater, Texas and graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1963. He owned and operated many grocery stores during his life, the last one being Mickey’s Drive-In on highway 22 near the dam. He worked for several years in the oil field on drilling rigs in the late 1970's and also owned Mickey’s Brazos Club in Whitney from 1991 until 1997 when he sold the club to care for his mother.

He enjoyed talking on his ham and cb radios and he loved to work in his yard. Mickey was honored to be a Master Mason and was a life long member of the Baird Masonic Lodge No. 522. He loved his children and his family and he was a fair and honest person. He was a Christian.

He is survived by his daughter, LaDonna Taylor and son-in-law, Patrick of Whitney; son, Andrew Way and daughter-in-law, Grace of Clyde; two brothers, Pastor Donald J. Way and (Marie) of Cleburne, Daniel Dean Way and (Marti) of Tuscon, AZ.; seven grandchildren, James, Brittany, Jacob, Caroline, Nathan, Morgan, Zachary; two great grandchildren, Addisyn and Jaxon. He is also survived by his best friends, Bernie and Eddie Dunaway, Tommy and Shannon Conner, Bobby and Susan Swillings, Ray and Pam Cullum and many others too numerous to list.

He chose to be cremated. There will be a memorial service on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 11:30 AM at Steiner Baptist Church off FM 1713. Please call Donald Way at 817-899-7978 for directions to the church.
