Morris Degner

Morris Lee “Satch” Degner, 78, of Malone passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016, in a Waco hospital. Graveside services will be held at Noon on Saturday, December 24, 2016, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in West with Rev. Larry Krueger of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellmead officiating. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 24, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bellmead. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 23, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Satch was born October 5, 1938 on the family farm near Bynum to Albert and Ella (Radke) Degner. The family moved to Malone in 1946 and he graduated from Bynum High School in 1957. From 1961-1967, he served his country in the Army National Guard of Texas. On September 9, 1966, Satch was united in marriage to Irene Kolar at Salem Lutheran Church in Malone by Rev. Alvin A. Walter.

He farmed in Hill County all of his life. Satch loved watching western movies, spending time with his grandkids, and checking his cattle with his blue heeler, Rowdy.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Irene Degner of Malone; three children, Lori Schronk and husband, Wayne, of Bynum, Lisa Wolfe and husband, David, of Robinson, and Dennis Degner and wife, Deborah, of Pittsburgh, PA; sister, Linda Lilley and husband, Gene, of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Ashley Lafoon and husband, Corey, of Hubbard, Ryan Faulknor and wife, Caitlin, of Hewitt, Hannah Wolfe of Robinson, and Madeline Hinckley of Pittsburgh, PA; great-grandson, Jackson Wolfe-Krusec of Hubbard; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1301 Hogan Lane, Waco, TX 76705.
