Morris Smith

Morris Smith, 78, of Hillsboro passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2018, at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro with Rev. Darrel Beggs of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at Marshall & Marshall Funeral Directors in Hillsboro.

Born May 14, 1939 in Hillsboro, he was the son of Elton J. and Nora Lou (Moore) Smith. He was a resident of Hillsboro for most of his life. Just out of high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for 2 years. Following his honorable discharge, Morris was united in marriage to Beth McClure on September 20, 1961 in Alvarado. For many years, he was a barber and owned the Palace Barber Shop before going to work in sales with Dick Holmes and later Weiser Locks. Morris later operated a service station/convenience store for a few years before returning to barbering in his later years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and riding motorcycles with his friends. He was a member of Central Baptist Church in Hillsboro and past member of Hillsboro Masonic Lodge.

Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Leita Campbell.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Beth Smith of Hillsboro; three sons, Steve Smith of Hillsboro, Timothy Smith and wife, Mary, of Hewitt, and Robert Smith of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Chris Smith, Zachary Smith and wife, Katie, Cody Smith, Scotty Smith and wife, Rachel, and Kaitlyn Smith; great-granddaughter, Olivia Smith; two nieces, Melody Campbell Thomas and Michelle Campbell Hanacik; and one nephew, Mike Campbell.
