Mozelle Scarborough, 80, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2005, in Hillsboro. Mozelle was born born on October 28, 1924 in Liberty County, Texas the daughter of James Franklin and Prudie McGowan Benton. In September 1943 she married Oliver L. Scarborough in Houston and he preceded her in death on October 6, 2003. A very active member in the Senior Circle at Hill Regional Hospital, Mozelle was also a volunteer at the hospital. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Playing with her great-grandchildren was one of her greatest joys. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Clifford Benton; and one sister, Ida Armstrong. Survivors include two sons, Gayle Scarborough and wife, Jeanette, of Hillsboro and Ted Scarborough and wife, Elizabeth, of Las Vegas, NV; two brothers, Elwood Benton and wife, Bessie, and James F. Benton, Jr. all of Liberty County; four sisters, Bernice Wheeler and husband, Woodrow, of Deer Park, Evelyn Early of Arkansas, Thelma Robledo and husband, Marty, of Pearland, and Jean Akin and husband, Bobby, of Baytown; three grandchildren, Michelle Gray and husband, Chad, of Hillsboro, and Curtis R. Scarborough and Christopher L. Scarborough both of Las Vegas, NV; and two great-grandchildren, Lexie Gray and Macie Gray both of Hillsboro. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 271, Hillsboro, TX 76645.
