Mr. Andrew Otis "Andy" Rogers, 89, of Hillsboro, died and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. Andy was born March 28, 1915 in Hubbard, Texas the son of Lum & Flossie Rogers. He grew up in Hubbard and served in the U. S. Army during WWII. After the war, he went to work for Consolidated Aircraft for two years where he met the love of his life, Marie McKandless. They married December 24, 1943 and moved to Hillsboro and began farming in 1944 and continued to farm all his life and retired in 1992. He loved to watch sports and enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys, but was most proud of his sons and grandchildren. He joined Mayfield Baptist Church in 1949 and was a faithful member until the church disbanded in 1983 and he then joined and attended regularly at Walnut Street Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Frances Walker of Itasca; and one brother, Clifton Shorty Rogers of Hillsboro. Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Marie Rogers of Hillsboro; two sons, Tim Rogers and wife, Cindy, of Hillsboro and Dan Rogers and wife, Kathi, of Hillsboro; five grandchildren, Chris Rogers, Clinton Rogers, Justin Rogers, Jeremy Rogers, and Kailee Rogers all of Hillsboro; one step-grandchild, Jaime Grisham of San Antonio; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Walnut Street Baptist Church, P. O. Box 1144, Hillsboro, TX 76645 or to the charity of one?s choice.
