Ellen was the daughter of Charlie Martin and Mary Olif Johns Fikes. She grew up in McCulloch County, TX and graduated class valedictorian from the school in Katemcy in 1927. Shortly after her graduation, she married Rev. N. J. Jones on November 12, 1927 in Brady, Texas. He preceded her in death January 19, 1973. A very active musician, she played piano for many community sings from 1975-1985. She also played the piano for her church's ministry at the nursing home. One of her favorite hobbies was quilting. Many local people have quilts made for them by Ellen. She also enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables. Ellen was a long-time member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Hillsboro, where her husband had served as pastor. Also preceding her in death were her parents; 3 sons, Gilbert Wayne Jones and twin infant sons; 1 brother, Dallas Fikes; 4 sisters, Alice Nobles, Carrie Turner, Julia Nobles and Myrtle Fikes; and 2 sons-in-law, Rev. Robert Daywitt and Rev. Dean Wagoner. She is survived by - 4 children: Glenda Daywitt of Waco Charlotte Wagoner of Giddings Carolyn Waller and husband, Mark of Bedford Nathanael Jones and wife, Elizabeth of Hurst 13 Grandchildren: Daniel Daywitt and wife Debbie of Waco Stephen Daywitt and wife, Liticia of China Spring Timothy Daywitt and wife, Kelly of Bellmead Deana Dubois and husband, Steve of Ledbetter Evelynn York of Ledbetter Sharon Wagoner of Whitehouse, Tennessee Marilyn Wagoner of Austin Raymond Waller and wife, Brenda of Rhome Ronald Waller and wife, Karen of Euless Chris Waller and wife, Courtney of Hurst April Green and husband, Jerome of North Richland Hills Julie Ann Jones of Bedford Nathanael Jones II of Euless 27 Great-Grandchildren several nieces and nephews and special caregiver, Sharon Bolden.
