Mrs. Ruby Mae Ingram McCullough, life long resident of Hill County, died Wed., Nov. 18, 2009, at the age of 99. She passed away peacefully at The Legends Assisted Living Facility in Hillsboro, where she had made her home in recent years. Her body will lie in state beginning Friday afternoon. Ruby was born on January 25, 1910 to the late John Benjamin and Mary Alice Terry Ingram. She was one of three children, grew up near Itasca and was a graduate of Hill Junior College. Ruby married Roy Lee McCullough in 1929 in Itasca and they were blessed with three children. Ruby was director of cafeterias for the Hillsboro Public School System until her retirement in 1975. She loved working cross word puzzles, sewing, cooking and teaching Sunday School classes in the First Baptist Church of Hillsboro where she was a long-time member. Ruby was also preceded in death by her son, Roy Lynn McCullough, and two sisters, Ruthie Fae Garrett and Meda Anderson. She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Mueck and husband, Victor, of Waco and Alyce Guynn of Austin; one daughter-in-law, Jan McCullough of Landenberg, PA; eight grandchildren, Catherine Houghton, Amanda Lloyd, Roy Lawrence McCullough, Jorge Frank, Paula Farmer, Geoffrey Guynn, Justin Corsbie, and Mercedes Gray; five step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; and a niece and nephew. The family would like to express their appreciation to The Legends staff who have given such loving care to both Ruby and Roy, especially in Ruby's final days. A very special thanks to her sitters, Maria and Martha.
