Nancy Darlene Patton Burgamy, better known as Darlene, mama and mother, and the best title of Nannie, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2024, not long after midnight, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was surrounded by friends and family the days and nights prior to her meeting Jesus. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM Friday, June 28, 2024, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors, Hillsboro, with pastor Jim Patton officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Marshall and Marshall.
Darlene, age 74, was born on October 1, 1949, in Hillsboro, to Lonnie and Ruth Patton. She lived most of her life in Hillsboro, and for the last nearly thirty years at Allen’s Point Apartments, where she enjoyed luncheons, bingo and playing dice with her neighbors and best friends. Darlene was the third oldest out of four sisters and two brothers. She was married to Bobby Burgamy in September of 1973. Darlene was a great sister, mother, Nannie, friend, and a hard worker in all of her years. She and husband, Bobby, owned several businesses in Hillsboro, including The Burger Box and Darlene’s on IH35, where she made the perfect hamburger and homemade chocolate and coconut pies. She took pride in her family, her clean house, and keeping her porch and yard cleaned and manicured.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lonnie Lee “Dooch” Patton, her mother, Jessie Ruth Porter Patton, her husband, Bobby Paul Burgamy, siblings Ronnie Patton, Cathey Patton Featherston, Judy Patton Thomason, bonus son Ricky Burgamy, and two angel grand babies, Emma Joy Burgamy and John Michael Burgamy.
Darlene is survived by her daughter, Kristi Patton of Hillsboro, her son Michael Burgamy and wife Summer of Tyler, grandchildren Haley Patton of Hillsboro, Hannah Patton of Waco, Chloe, Isabella and Isaac Burgamy, all of Tyler, great-grandson Ethan of Hillsboro, and another great-grandson on the way, bonus daughters, Kim Burgamy Masterson of Corsicana, and Paula Burgamy of Greenville. She was also survived by her sister, Patricia Ward and husband, Darrell of Cleburne, brother Billy Patton, and wife Stacey of Whitney, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she loved and adored deeply.
Darlene loved Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty and Alan Jackson, playing bingo and cards with friends and family, court TV and the Game Show Network. Darlene will be remembered for the love she had to give, and the willingness to help someone as much as she could, until she could not. But most of all, she was the best mother and Nannie any of us could ask for.
